Bernie Zakary joins leading End-Point Assessment business

With extensive experience in qualification and assessment development and regulatory control, Bernie Zakary will be responsible for the leadership of EUIAS, driving standards and ensuring a first-class, rigorous and robust apprenticeship end-point assessment service for the UK’s energy and utilities sector and wider industry.

Remarking on his appointment, Bernie Zakary said: “I am really pleased to be joining the EUIAS, an organisation that has led the way in end-point assessments. I am passionate about vocational education and training and look forward to working with my new team and colleagues to drive excellence in all we do.”

As the leading provider of end-point assessments and skills development in the energy and utilities industries, EUIAS relies on a strong leadership team to engage and maintain strategic collaborations across the sector. Established in 2014, the EUIAS was formed by employers and for employers to support the transferability of skills across and within the energy and utilities and adjacent sectors. Since its inception, the government approved end-point assessment service has helped employers to achieve many publicly recognised firsts in adapting to the apprenticeship reforms, and earlier this year secured its 1,000th achiever in engineering-based disciplines.

Energy & Utility Skills Chief Executive, Nick Ellins, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Bernie as the new leader of the utility sector’s end-point assessment service. The strategy and insight that he brings from a career in vocational qualifications and compliance is perfect for supporting employers in this highly regulated and safety conscious sector. The EUIAS has been credited with leading the way since the start of the apprenticeship reforms in England, and the trust and quality of collaboration built with the employers, training providers, the regulator and government departments is something that are committed to investing in. Bernie will be pivotal in ensuring that we make excellence the standard throughout our partnerships.”
