Policies for end point assessment EPA Resources End Point Assessment Resources EPA Specification

Here you will find links to all our End Point Assessment resources covering:

  • Guidance and documentation to support the end-point assessment process in general
  • Standard-specific guidance and in some cases, pathway-specific guidance

EUIAS is creating EPA Specifications for a number of our approved apprenticeships. These documents are your one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about that end-point assessment, including guidance on how to prepare apprentices for the EPA. These documents will be available to download as single documents, and to download in their constituent sections. The structure of all our EPA Specifications is the same:

  • Section 1 – Introduction
  • Section 2 – Mapping the standard
  • Section 3 – Service delivery and gateway eligibility
  • Section 4 – Amplification and Guidance
  • Section 5 – Assessment and Grading Criteria
  • Section 6 – Practice assessments and guidance
  • Section 7 – this section contains various Annexes relevant to the standard, and the Gateway Eligibility Report

Where an End Point Assessment Specification is not available, we have made available a variety of support documents relevant to that standard.

Resources for Gas Network Operative

Please note that in addition to passing their apprenticeship end-point assessment, gas network operatives need to be qualified and on the Street Works Register.  Employers typically require a driving license, as operatives may be expected to drive to their place of work, using a company vehicle. In addition, some gas network operatives may require a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card and/or SHEA (Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness) Gas Passport Card. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check may also be required.

Important Note:

  • IfATE published a new Gas Network Operative Assessment Plan AP04 that came into effect for apprentices who started their apprenticeship on 29 March 2022
  • Apprentices can be assessed against Assessment Plan AP04 even if they have started their training before 29 March  2022
  • The main differences are that AP03 practical observation included signing, lighting and guarding, and excavation, and in AP04, these have been removed from the practical observation and are covered in the interview
  • The EUIAS GNC EPA Specification is written for AP04

The second difference between v1.1 and v1.2 is that for the trade test practical assessment with questions, construction pathway, the requirement for the apprentice to ‘install new substation equipment including positioning of a transformer and locating and fixing high voltage switchgear’ has been updated.  The words ‘including positioning of a transformer’ have been removed
